Helping to Build Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Homes
Dunbar Inc. is happy to serve our community by helping to build two homes with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity. The homes, one in Toledo and one in Oregon, Ohio, were built as we worked together with three skilled trade contractor partners: OCP Toledo, Laibe Electric/Technology, and VM Systems. Dunbar completed the mechanical and plumbing systems for the home; Laibe installed all the electrical needs including fixtures, sockets, and the fusebox; and VM Systems provided the HVAC runs. The collaboration of the firms is abbreviated to “DLOV” – Dunbar, Laibe, OCP, and VM. Between all these companies the needs for both homes were entirely met.
Habitat for Humanity provides a pathway to fulfill the dream of home ownership — one of these homes is now owned by Tyniece, a single mother of two children and the other is Jessica’s home, she is a single mother of three. Through Habitat’s education program focused on financial management and home maintenance, individuals learn to take on the responsibilities of home ownership. This education program includes construction experience and “Sweat Equity” which is the time future homeowners spend in building their new homes. Through Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, new or rehabbed homes are ultimately purchased with a 0% interest mortgage.
