MetalX is an independent, full-service scrap metal recycling company engaged in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap processing and advanced metal recovery technologies. Headquartered in Waterloo, Indiana, the firm moved into the Northwest Ohio market by building a state-of-the-art scrap processing facility on a 60-acre site across the street from North Star BlueScope’s flat-rolled steel mill. MetalX was founded in 2012 by family members with four generations of experience in the scrap/recycling marketplace. The facility employs 80 people and is designed to process over 500,000 tons per year.

Key ferrous operations include a heavy-duty shredder and recovery system, a production baler, mobile shears and a high capacity staging and distribution yard for prepared grades.

Non-ferrous operations focus on shredded aluminum recovery and industrial scrap processing.

Dunbar Inc. was brought onto the construction team, first to do the steel erection for the operation’s administration, truck maintenance, and facility operations buildings. The relationship expanded, and Dunbar installed all process equipment and material handling systems as well as all oxygen and propane piping.
